Commuting by Bus

There are many health benefits of commuting by bus. The daily walk to and from the bus stop and the destination is a great way to squeeze in some exercise.  Studies have shown that walking to and from the bus stop can burn 22,630 calories a year!  Even more impressively, daily bus users clock up the annual equivalent of 11 marathons!

Recent studies have also found that public transport users are 44 per cent less likely to be obese, 27 per cent less likely to have high blood pressure and 34 per cent less likely to suffer from diabetes than those who drive cars to work

Plus catching the bus also allows you to relax and enjoy the local scenery, or perhaps catch up with friends, enjoy some social media, or even catch up on life admin.

There are a number of bus companies operating a wealth of bus routes across Bournemouth, Poole and Dorset.  Why not check out the Journey Planner and plan your route to work.  Start by trying it just one day a week and see how you go.
